The Cragganmore Distillers Edition 2022 is a sublime expression of Speyside single malt, showcasing a complex layering of flavor achieved through secondary maturation. This annual release from the Cragganmore distillery is initially aged in traditional refill casks before undergoing a finishing period in casks previously seasoned with sweet, fortified Port wine. This double maturation imparts a noticeable depth and richness. The nose is characterized by the classic honeyed, malty core of Cragganmore, beautifully complemented by notes of dark fruit, plum jam, and a delicate floral smokiness. On the palate, the Port influence delivers a velvety texture and flavors of sweet raisins, red berries, and cocoa, balancing the spirit's inherently elegant structure. Bottled at 40% ABV, it offers a sophisticated, lingering finish that is both smooth and deeply satisfying.
