Te Merio wines are sourced from vineyards in each sub-regions of Marlborough - the Awatere, Waihopai and Wairau Valleys, as well as the breezier region of Waipara. These valleys have their own micro-climates and terroir which give a unique personality to the vineyards, grapes and finished wines. The different vineyard locations and climates from where the Sauvignon grapes are sourced, give greater texture, character and flavour to the wine. Picking decisions are made entirely on flavour, skin-contact is minimised and cool fermentations with neutral yeast in stainless steel tanks preserve the crisp, fresh varietal nature of the fruit.
Tasting note: Luscious gooseberry aromas follow through into the palate where it explodes with a full on citrus zing that is balanced by fantastic texture and weight.
With more texture than aromatics alone, this is a food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc. Its bright and crisp flavours are a perfect match with all sea beasties from delicate freshly caught seafood to rich and meaty barbecued king prawns.
