Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Whisky is a revered expression from Japan???s first distillery, established by Masataka Taketsuru on the island of Hokkaido. This single malt is famous for its distinct, slightly salty and maritime character, a result of its seaside location and the traditional method of direct coal-firing the pot stills, which imparts a subtle smokiness. Aged in a variety of cask types, Yoichi delivers a sophisticated profile. Expect pronounced notes of peat smoke, balanced by sweet fruit, honey, and a hint of spice. The palate is rich and oily, leading to a long, warming finish. This complex whisky is a superb example of traditional craftsmanship, best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to appreciate its layered depth.
