Shinobu Blended Whisky is a remarkable expression from the Niigata Prefecture of Japan, showcasing a harmonious blend of malt and grain whiskies. "Shinobu" means forbearance in Japanese, reflecting the patience required during its creation. Initially aged in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, this whisky is then finished in Mizunara oak, a rare Japanese wood revered for imparting complex, delicate notes. This dual maturation process results in a smooth, approachable profile. On the nose, expect sweet hints of honey, citrus, and a whisper of sandalwood from the Mizunara. The palate delivers a balanced taste of vanilla, baked apple, and a slightly spicy, oak finish. It is bottled without chill-filtration, maintaining its rich character and mouthfeel.
