Suntory The Chita Distillers Reserve Whisky is a refined single grain expression from Suntory's Chita distillery, located in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Unlike the malt whiskies produced at Yamazaki and Hakushu, The Chita focuses on grain distillation, offering a rare and delicate profile that is lighter and subtler than its counterparts. This "Distillers Reserve" is aged in a combination of Spanish oak, American white oak, and wine casks, resulting in exceptional complexity and a silken mouthfeel. It opens with aromas of honey, mint, and light wood, followed by a palate featuring notes of citrus zest, white pepper, and subtle honey sweetness. The finish is clean and lingering, making it an excellent highball whisky, though its elegance also makes it rewarding to sip neat.
