Waterford Peated Lacken 1.1 is an expressive single malt Irish whiskey that showcases the distillery's innovative approach to terroir and peat smoke. Crafted from 100% Irish barley grown in County Wexford, this release is named after the specific farm where the grain was cultivated. Unlike typical Scotch peat, which is derived from mainland bogs, this expression uses peat sourced from the Irish coast, imparting a distinct and gentle coastal smokiness that complements the spirit's underlying fruity character.
Aged in a mix of first-fill U.S. oak, virgin U.S. oak, French oak, and Vin Doux Naturel casks, this whiskey achieves a unique complexity. It offers a profile that balances sweet malt, green apple, and citrus notes with a sophisticated, light earthy smoke on the finish, making it a uniquely approachable peated dram.
