Boatyard Old Tom Gin is a distinctive, slightly sweeter style of gin that bridges the gap between traditional London Dry and the richer, maltier Dutch Jenever. Crafted in Northern Ireland, this expression is carefully distilled using a base spirit derived from wheat, incorporating a bold selection of botanicals including Boatyard's signature sweet gale. The classic botanicals, such as juniper, coriander, and orris root, are carefully balanced with a slight addition of sugar post-distillation, resulting in a rounded, complex, and velvety mouthfeel.
This gin presents notes of bright citrus and subtle sweetness, followed by a persistent juniper core and a lingering, spicy finish. It is bottled at a higher proof to carry its complex flavor through classic cocktails, making it an ideal choice for elevated versions of the Martinez, Tom Collins, or Gin & Tonic.
