Château Grand Puy Lacoste 2009 is a superb expression of Pauillac from an exceptional vintage. This wine, often lauded as one of the best recent releases, showcases the classic power and elegance of the estate. Deeply colored, it reveals a concentrated nose of blackcurrant, cedar, and fine tobacco leaf, underpinned by savory minerality. On the palate, the 2009 is full-bodied and beautifully structured, displaying ripe tannins that are both firm and silky. Expect flavors of dark plum, graphite, and a hint of dark chocolate, leading to a long, persistent finish. While approachable now, this Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend has tremendous aging potential and will continue to evolve gracefully over the next two decades. It pairs ideally with rich red meats, such as roasted lamb or a classic ribeye steak.
