Château Penin Les Cailloux is a distinguished expression from the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, crafted primarily from Merlot, often blended with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is produced from vines grown on a complex terroir dominated by gravel and clay-limestone soils, which impart structure and finesse.
The winemaking typically involves traditional methods, followed by maturation in oak barrels to lend complexity. The resulting wine is rich and accessible, presenting intense aromas of ripe black and red fruit, such as cherry and plum, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, toasted spice, and a hint of truffle. On the palate, it is full-bodied, balancing smooth tannins and refreshing acidity, making it an excellent accompaniment to roasted meats or strong cheeses. It is designed to be enjoyable in its youth but also possesses the structure for moderate aging.
