Domaine Bernard Metrat’s Fleurie “La Roilette” Vieilles Vignes is a testament to the quality of Cru Beaujolais. Sourced from the esteemed La Roilette vineyard in Fleurie—often called the “Queen of the Crus”—this wine is crafted from old-vine Gamay, lending it profound complexity and structure.
Unlike some Beaujolais, this wine avoids carbonic maceration and is traditionally fermented before aging for six to nine months in used wooden casks. This meticulous vinification results in a full-bodied expression. The nose and palate are coated with engaging sweet berry fruit, signature floral notes of violet, and a hint of warming black pepper. Fine-grained tannins provide an elegant structure, making this powerful yet sophisticated Gamay a wine that can be enjoyed now or cellar-aged through 2028.
