Dupont 1980 Calvados is a rare and exceptional vintage from the Pays d'Auge appellation, a region celebrated for producing the finest Calvados due to its specific terroir and double distillation requirement. Distilled from the purest cider apples of the 1980 harvest, this spirit has undergone decades of slow maturation in French oak barrels. This long aging process, spanning over forty years, has concentrated and refined the spirit, resulting in a profound complexity. It presents a deep amber hue and a rich bouquet of concentrated baked apple, rancio, and dried fruit, overlaid with notes of vanilla, toasted nuts, and cigar box from the long oak contact. The palate is incredibly smooth, full-bodied, and persistent, offering an exquisite balance of fruit, spice, and wood. This Calvados is best savored neat as a sophisticated digestif.
