Glenmorangie 18 Years is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky, celebrated as "Extremely Rare" for its meticulous maturation process. This Highland expression spends 15 years in ex-Bourbon American white oak casks before approximately 30% is transferred to Spanish Oloroso Sherry butts for a further three years of finishing. The two mature components are then married back together to achieve exceptional harmony.
This complex, full-bodied whisky presents a rich profile of honey, nuts, and floral notes, with delicate hints of sea salt and creamy vanilla. The palate is velvety, layered with dried apricot, warm toffee, and spice from the Oloroso wood. Its long, lingering finish, often described as sweet and drying, reinforces its status as a truly luxurious and sophisticated dram, perfect for sipping neat.
