Hinch Calvados Cask Irish Whiskey is a distinctive expression that combines the rich heritage of Irish whiskey with the unique character imparted by Calvados casks. Initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels, this whiskey is then finished in French oak casks previously used to age fine Calvados, the renowned apple brandy from Normandy. This secondary maturation introduces layers of complexity, resulting in a beautifully balanced spirit. The whiskey offers a bright, inviting nose with notes of orchard fruit, baked apples, and cinnamon spice, seamlessly merging with vanilla and sweet malt. The palate is rich and creamy, echoing the apple and pear flavors of Calvados alongside classic toasted oak and a lingering warmth. This smooth, medium-bodied whiskey is bottled at 43% ABV and is a superb example of innovative cask finishing.
