The 2020 Penfolds Grange is a classical and beautiful expression of 100% Shiraz, showcasing massive concentration and a profound, impenetrable deep red hue. Revered as a First Growth Australian red, this vintage was matured for 20 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads, which is all but totally absorbed, allowing the powerful fruit character to remain the champion. The wine seduces with upfront red fruits and maraschino cherry before transitioning to rich, dark "Noir-ish" notes like Black Forest cake, blackberry, and black cherry. Beneath this opulent fruit, wafts of pan juices and chocolaty tannins are perfectly integrated, contributing to the wine's depth and complexity. With an Alcohol by Volume of 14.5% and a pH of 3.6, the 2020 Grange exhibits the detail and hallmarks expected of this iconic flagship bottling.
