Port Charlotte Syrah Cask is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, known for its commitment to high provenance. Distilled from 100% Scottish barley and bottled at 50% ABV, this expression is initially matured in American oak casks before being finished in premium French oak casks that previously held Syrah wine.
This secondary maturation imparts a deep complexity, complementing the signature Port Charlotte smoke with rich, dark fruit notes. Expect an intense aroma of peat smoke, leather, and vanilla, leading to a palate layered with dark berries, spiced plum, and a mineral complexity. The finish is long, warm, and distinctly maritime, showcasing the powerful balance between Islay terroir and wine cask influence.
