Quiquiriqui Ensamble Mezcal is a beautifully complex spirit crafted using a blend of different agave varieties, typically including Espadín and other wild or semi-wild agaves like Cuishe or Tobalá. The term "Ensamble" signifies this blend, which allows the Master Mezcalero to create a balanced and nuanced flavor profile that captures the diversity of the Oaxaca terroir.
The agaves are roasted in traditional conical earthen ovens, crushed by a stone tahona, and naturally fermented before double distillation in copper pot stills. This dedication to ancestral methods results in a smoky, yet elegant mezcal. Expect notes of earthy minerals, sweet cooked agave, subtle black pepper, and a rich, long finish that balances the initial heat with lingering sweetness. It is an ideal expression for sipping neat to appreciate its layered character.
