Strega is a classic Italian herbal liqueur, instantly recognizable by its distinct saffron-yellow hue, which gives it the name "witch" in Italian. Established in 1860 in Benevento, Italy, it is crafted from a secret recipe that includes around 70 botanicals, such as mint, cinnamon, juniper, and fennel. This complex blend is aged in ash barrels to achieve its signature smooth and velvety texture. Bottled at 40% ABV, Strega offers a unique, complex flavor profile that balances herbaceous sweetness with spicy, minty, and subtly floral notes. It is traditionally considered a digestif, perfect for sipping neat or over ice after a meal, but its complexity also makes it a superb modifier for classic and contemporary cocktails.
